Leather and variations for long-lasting elegance
Natural materials, their life cycle, their grain, their fragrance: this is what drives Mélanie. One in particular has captured her attention: leather, which she has patiently learned to work and with which she creates timelessly elegant pieces.
In Venacu, right in the heart of the island, she has renovated a casetta under the chestnut trees and set up her own leather workshop. With finesse and meticulousness, she cuts, sews, drills, rivets and dyes; she also designs, cooks and gardens...
Because we loved wearing cherries on our ears, we dreamed of hanging chestnuts on them! So Mélanie and I came up with Castagnina earrings, a blend of fantasy and authenticity for coquettish castagnophiles who are proud to be so!
Extremely light and pleasant to wear (they feel like skin on skin), you'll soon see them swinging merrily from your ears and showing your unfailing attachment to chestnuts with panache!
In her workshop, Mélanie custom-makes, creates and restores a variety of objects...
Sensitive to the environment and to the traditions of a time when people had the wisdom and time to observe, she works primarily with leathers tanned with plant extracts.
Preferring traditional tools, she also uses machines from Fablab Corti to personalize items (laser cutter/engraver in particular). To ensure the longevity of her creations, all stitching is done by hand with linen thread.
